Born: 23rd April 1981, Dannevirke, Manawatu, New Zealand
Batting: Right-hand batsman
Wicket-keeper:
Luke Ronchi maintains a strike rate of 205 in his two outings at the international arena. He also holds the record for the fastest century in Australia's domestic one-day circuit, and has been hailed as the next big wicketkeeper batsman in the country from an early stage in his career.
Ronchi's incredible ability to clear the boundaries earned him a contract with the Mumbai Indians during the inaugural season of the IPL. In the absence of Sachin Tendulkar, Ronchi showed signs of brilliance as an opening batsman. In the second season, Ronchi played just the solitary game due to an injury.
The hard hitting wicketkeeper-batsman from Western Australia was explosive at the top when Brad Haddin had to sit out with an injury in West Indies in 2008. He slammed a 22-ball half century and contributed with five catches and two stumping decisions to help Australia seal the series 5-0. Later that year, the New Zealand-born Ronchi played some stellar knocks for Australia 'A'.
Ronchi's first ever Twenty20 knock was incidentally in the first Twenty20 game in Australia and the explosive batsman smacked 40 runs off 13 balls for Prime Minister's XI in 2004-05. Since that memorable knock, Ronchi has been hailed as one of the most dangerous batsmen in Australia.
